DigiLocker is mandatory for Indian nationals
GATE 2027 requires DigiLocker-verified registration for Indian nationals. Do not wait until the last week of September to create or link DigiLocker. Practical sequence:
- Create / unlock DigiLocker with your Aadhaar-linked mobile number well before 14 Aug if you do not already use it.
- Ensure name, date of birth, and ID details match the documents you will upload to GOAPS.
- Keep degree / provisional certificate and category documents ready in clear PDF scans and available via DigiLocker where applicable.
- Complete GOAPS early in the regular window so rectification (14–21 Oct) is available if something is wrong.
Photo and signature specs change slightly each year — follow the 2027 instructions on gate2027.iitm.ac.in, not screenshots from older cycles.
Registration checklist (before you hit “submit”)
- Paper code: Select AR for Architecture & Planning. Confirm any two-paper combination rules on the official “two paper combinations” page if you plan a second paper.
- Personal details: Match passport / Aadhaar spelling exactly; mismatches cause admit-card and scorecard pain later.

Common mistakes that waste a cycle
- Waiting for extended registration by default. Extended close (30 Sep) includes a late fee. Regular close is 21 Sep.
- Wrong paper or wrong combination. AR is Architecture & Planning. Confirm combinations on the official portal.
- Assuming old syllabus PDFs. GATE 2027 syllabi were revised — re-download from the 2027 site.
- Ignoring DigiLocker until payment day. Account or document fetch failures cluster at deadlines.
