Last updated: 24 Oct 2026. Everything below comes from the official advertisement and its corrigendum, linked at the end. The advertisement says the exam scheme and syllabus would be published separately on the MPPSC website, so this page does not state them.
How many Assistant Town Planner posts were advertised?
39 posts in all. The advertisement splits them by category as follows.
| Group | UR | SC | ST | OBC | EWS | Total |

| All posts | 10 | 6 | 8 | 11 | 4 | 39 |
| Of which reserved for women who are Madhya Pradesh natives | 4 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 1 | 14 |
The advertisement also reserves one post each in four categories of disability for Madhya Pradesh natives, and says unfilled posts reserved for women can be filled by men of the same category.
Because of pending court cases on OBC reservation, the advertisement says the result will be declared on an 87% main list and a 13% provisional list. The main list has 34 posts (UR 10, SC 6, ST 8, OBC 6, EWS 4) and the provisional list has 5 posts (UR 5 and OBC 5). The final result is subject to the courts’ final decision.

- A four-year bachelor’s degree in town planning, urban planning, city planning, housing planning, rural planning, infrastructure planning, regional planning, transport and transportation planning, landscape architecture, urban design or environmental planning; or
- A master’s degree (M.Plan) in one of those fields; or

A B.E. or M.E. degree in transport and transportation is not accepted.
Age limit
- At least 21 years, and not yet 40 years, counted on 1 January 2027.
- The date of birth that counts is the one on the Class 10 (High School) marksheet.
- The upper limit is relaxed by 5 years for SC, ST, OBC, persons with disabilities, employees of government, corporations, boards and autonomous bodies, city soldiers and women (reserved and unreserved), under the Madhya Pradesh General Administration Department circular of 4 July 2019. Ex-servicemen may subtract their defence service, as long as the result is not more than three years above the upper limit. Relaxation needs a certificate from the competent authority.
- Even with every relaxation added, no candidate over 45 years can apply.
Other conditions
- Reservation and age relaxation apply only to natives of Madhya Pradesh. Candidates from other states are treated as unreserved.
- The candidate must hold the qualification and every other eligibility document on or before the last date of online application (19 March 2026 in the original notice). A candidate applying with a late fee also must have everything by that date.
- Under the Madhya Pradesh Civil Services (General Conditions of Service) Rules 1961, a candidate with more than two living children, one of them born on or after 26 January 2001, is not eligible, and a candidate convicted of an offence against women is not eligible.
- Employment exchange registration: candidates from other states are exempt. Madhya Pradesh natives do not need it when applying, but must give a live registration certificate by the date for sending documents for the interview, unless they are in government or private service, in which case a no-objection certificate or a service certificate is accepted.
What is the selection process?
- Objective exam. An OMR-based exam of multiple-choice questions, held at centres in Indore, with negative marking.
- Interview. Candidates who score in the merit order up to three times the number of posts in each category, including those tied at the last mark, are called for the interview. Candidates who miss the interview are treated as ineligible.
- Final result. Prepared in merit order from the total of exam marks and interview marks.
MPPSC says there is no re-evaluation or recounting. Category-wise cut-off marks are not shown before the final selection. After the exam, MPPSC publishes a provisional answer key, takes objections online for 5 days, and charges ₹150 per question plus a ₹40 portal fee per session. Both are non-refundable. Selected candidates are appointed after the department verifies their documents.
Not in the advertisement: the exam scheme, marks, number of papers and syllabus. The advertisement says they would be published on the MPPSC website. Read that notice before you prepare.
