Job summary

Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IIT Roorkee) has published a vacancy for IIT Roorkee Assistant Professor (Architecture & Planning) 2026 – Special Recruitment Drive (IITR/FR-SRD/2026/19) in Roorkee.

Contract: Regular faculty position

Open only to SC, ST, OBC, EWS and PwD (PD) candidates. Assistant Professor Grade-II: Ph.D. with first class or equivalent in the preceding degree in an appropriate branch, with a very good academic record throughout. Assistant Professor Grade-I: the same, plus at least 3 years of industrial, research or teaching experience excluding the Ph.D. period.

Assistant Professor Grade-II: Ph.D.

Assistant Professor Grade-I: the same, plus at least 3 years of industrial, research or teaching experience excluding the Ph.D.

Contract / tenure: Regular faculty position

Department of Architecture and Planning is one of 32 departments and centres covered by this special drive.
Reserved-category drive: only SC, ST, OBC, EWS and PwD candidates may apply; upload a valid category certificate in the prescribed format.
Grade-II: Academic Pay Level 10 (₹57,700–₹98,200); starting pay fixed at cell 16, ₹89,800. Grade-I: Academic Pay Level 12 (₹1,01,500–₹1,67,400).
Essential: Ph.D. with first class in the preceding degree. Grade-I also needs 3 years of post-Ph.D.-excluded experience.
Joining support listed in the notice: ₹30,000/month fellowship for 3 years, up to ₹20 lakh faculty initiation grant, ₹3 lakh professional development allowance over 3 years.
