How to Read a Government Architecture or Planning Job Notification
A government architecture or planning notification is a legal document, not a blog summary. Most application mistakes happen because candidates skim the title and vacancy count, then miss eligibility footnotes, experience cut-off dates, or “desirable” vs “essential” qualifications. Read in this order (not top to bottom casually)
- Post name + cadre / department — Architect, Architectural Assistant, Manager (Architecture), Scientist/Engineer, Assistant Director (Town Planning), Town Planning Assistant are different careers and different eligibility trees.
- Number of posts and category split — UR / OBC / SC / ST / EWS / PwBD breaks matter for cut-offs and whether the post is worth your fee.

Educational qualifications: where architects and planners get trapped
Notifications rarely say “anyone in design.” They list precise pathways. Patterns you will see on A&P posts:
- B.Arch + Council of Architecture registration — common for architect / Manager (Architecture) posts (example: AAI Manager Architecture 2026).
- B.Arch + GATE AR — used as a shortlist filter (example: ISRO Scientist/Engineer SC Architecture).

- Deadline only on a third-party site — open the PDF or PSC portal and find the paragraph yourself.
- “Architecture jobs” that are civil-only on page 2 — title bait is common on aggregators.
- Expired notification recycled with a new blog date — check the notice year and application close date.
- Apply links that go to login walls with no advertisement number — prefer notices that show Advt / Notfn numbers (e.g. 12/2026/CHQ/DR-CBT, 05/G/TP/2026).
